Workshop Description: Lomi lomi is an ancient hawaiian restorative healing system, one component of which is the art of compassionate touch.
Lomi look goes far beyond massage however; it also reflects the connection we have with land ('aina), spirit guides or ancestors ('aumakua), and the breath of life (alola).
Lomi lomi is beneficial for many ailments and to increase one's spiritual energy (mana). The nurturing strokes are relaxing; however one soon learns this work is therapeutic on all levels.
Students will learn:
-Forearm strokes and lomi lomi techniques to perform a full body Lomi lomi massage
-Proper Draping for a Spa environment
- Breathing techniques for the client and
- Hawaiian spiritual philosophy as it pertains to body work
- Contraindications of Lomi lomi
- The history of Lomi lomi

Instructor: Dej'Sheron grew up in Las Vegas where he always had an interest in spirituality and helping others. After graduating high school he attended Nevada School of Massage Therapy (now Cortiva Institute), from 2013-2014. He later began to work for Mandara Spa on board Norwegian Cruise Line: Pride of America in Hawaii in 2016. Before being able to work on the ship he did a week long training in Hawaiian Lomi lomi and other modalities under the guidance of Andrea Kamahele, who learned from Auntie Margaret Machado, one of the first Hawaiians to teach Lomi lomi to outsiders.
After his contract in Hawaii, he moved back to Las Vegas and began working at an Aveda spa at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort as a massage therapist. He was then asked to develop Aveda's spa menu around unique treatments that he learned during his time in Hawaii and became a trainer as well as a Nevada State Board of Massage Therapy certified Continuing Education Provider.
What to Bring: Two twin sized bed sheets, a pillow case, 1 hand towel, 1 large bath towel, a bolster, and a bottle of massage oil
