Workshop Description: During this comprehensive training you will gain understanding of historical, physiological and the therapeutic effects and benefits of hot stone massage. The indications and contraindications for hot stone massage as well as the effects of heat and cold therapy will be reviewed and discussed. By the end of the workshop you will be familiar with the handling of stones, methods for incorporating hot stone work into your regular massage sessions as well as learning a full body hot stone routine that you can offer as an additional, unique treatment option.
Participants will also learn how to incorporate the use of essential oils into a hot stone routine for added benefit. This treatment modality not only adds enrichment to your massage sessions but also provides benefits to you as a manual therapist.

Instructor: Alecia Davidson
Alecia Davidson is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Medical Esthetician, Spa Body Practitioner and a Certified Professional Life Coach. She has over 26 years of combined experience in the Wellness and Spa industry as an owner, practitioner, consultant and trainer as well as extensive post-graduate continuing education in skin and body care courses. Alecia was formerly a Yonka-Paris product educator and has also studied under several renown Dermatologists and Cosmetic Surgeons during her employment at a medical spa.
She currently is in private practice as the owner of Wellness Bursts and is an instructor at CCMT teaching clinic and CEU classes. Alecia's dedication and passion comes through in every class she teaches and her extensive background, knowledge and expertise is what keeps her valued as a leader in the industry.
What to Bring:
- Massage linens (including a blanket and face cradle cover)
- 4-5 hand towels
- 2 washcloths
- Water dispersible massage oil
- A slotted spoon and basalt stones ( in a variety of sizes that include 3-4 large stones approx. 3-4 inches, 10-12 medium stones approx. 2 1/2-3 inches, and 4 small stones approx. 1-2 inches and 8 toe stones are recommended but optional).
- Participants must also bring a small crock pot or electric cooker (no large units) as purchasing options will be discussed in the course, it is advisable to borrow a warming unit if possible.
