Course Description: 

  • Cupping is a technique that goes back to ancient times.  It has been used by several cultures including China, Egypt, Mexico, Japan, and European countries.  Cupping uses a negative pressure to relieve stress in the body and release soft tissue.  It is different from the normal compressive techniques used by therapist.  Cupping is also known as myofascial decompression in the physical therapy fields.  In this course you will learn the techniques and history of cupping massage as it applies to our modern world.

Time: 9am to 6pm with a 1 hour lunch

Supplies Students Need to Bring: Linens ( two sheets, pillow case), Large Body/beach towel, massage medium (oil, cream, lotion) 

***An 8 piece silicone cupping set is included in the course. 

Instructor: Mike Cruz and Cynthia Cruz (T/A)

About the Instructor: 

Mike is a native Texan and grew up in the Panhandle.  Mike served in the USMC for 13 years after graduating high school.  Upon leaving the Marine Corps, he worked in the production and manufacturing field as a technician and ending as a production manager.

 

He has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2005.  Mike became a massage therapist to help others reach their health goals.  His specialties include clinical deep tissue and structural integration massage.  Mike has a thriving practice in Colleyville that he co-owns with his wife.

 

Mike has included cupping massage in his practice since 2009 and has taught multiple therapists this technique.  He has taught cupping massage to Elements Massage and Hand and Stone franchises.
